Projekte der vergangenen Jahre

(Die offizielle Sprache in unserem Europaprojekt ist Englisch. Deswegen sind alle weiteren Information auf dieser Seite in unserer Projektsprache:)

Our school has been imparted into European Projects since 1994.

Presently we are collaborating with schools from Madeira (Escola Complementar do Til in Funchal) and Wales (Rydal Penrhos in Colwyn Bay).

The current three-year topic is called : Culture Uniting Europe

In 2004/2005 our theme was: Old Enemies New Friends

Most countries have been invaded in past years by one or more foreign armies or indeed mass migrations of people. This may have affected language, food, commerce, politics etc. Many countries have been changed culturally in some manner by these ancient hostilities. Often, the impact may still be a cause of cultural division or the impact may provide a sense of unity and change for the good.
The work in that year examined these issues and was presented on CD-ROM.

In 2005/2006 our present theme is: Sport: A uniting or dividing force?

In June 2004 Portugal hosted Euro 2004; In 2006 Germany will host the football World Cup. Competition at the Olympics and other major sporting events can boost or deflate national pride. A sense of European pride was fostered in golf's Ryder Cup in 2004 when Europe successfully administered the biggest ever defeat on the USA.

Through video footage, questionnaires and an exhibition the work this year will examine whether sport can act as a force to unite European nations or to create bitter divisions.

In 2006/2007 our theme will be: Cultural harmonisation and diversity

Every culture has its own folk tales, historical heroes and folk music. Through stories, music and singing, the work this year examines any similarities and differences in folk tales through the native languages with translations provided into English by each school.

What is Socrates?

Socrates is the EU education programme. It supports European co-operation on a range of educational projects, initiatives and professional development, providing opportunities for all sectors, including schools, higher education and lifelong learning.

Socrates spans the entire breadth of education systems. It comprises eight parts, or Actions, which aim to improve quality and strengthen the European dimension in education (We are involved in the Comenius component).

Comenius: for schools and further education. Supports joint curriculum projects between schools and colleges, staff training opportunities and the development of networks.
